By Jesu! Sir Fauntleroy hath returned to find alt.legend.king-arthur in
ruins.

I promised you gentlemen I would return in exactly one year to recount my
tails under oath, and here I find that many have abandoned their posts. And
whenst I left, I thought the mere 100 threads was an attrocious number. But
now to find naught but 18 threads, half of which are spam for online
pharmacy?

I am now putting you all under oath. Tell me what happened. Who drove out
these gentlemen? Griffins? Weaverns? SARACENS????

Before I receiveth a spelling flame, that should be tales not tails.
And before I receivetha an Arthur flame, LONG LIVE KING ARTHUR, THE NOBLEST
AND KINDEST RULER.

Wonderful work, sir. I too am a creator of Arthurian comics similar to
these. It features some of these time traveling elements, and at one point
the hero even has a battle to the death with David Letterman, the Late
Knight.

The comics are not yet available because I am currently considering an
animation project.

Blame AOL. They no longer host (is that the right word?) usenet
groups, so it's bloody difficult for me and any other AOL users to read
and post any more. And I'm really disappointed. This group has a
wealth of knowledge to share about Arthur and company. And isn't as
intimidating as Arthurnet. Maybe we can look into forming a yahoo
list? But then, there are dozens of those. Don't know what the answer
is. But I would hate for this group to fade away because of
bureaucracy.

No way Debra - ALKA lives and will continue! The best advice might be
for you to seek another ISP, but short of that, there are freestanding
newsreaders available. A popular one is Forte's "Agent". You can
download it for a 30 free trial, then if you choose not to purchase it,
it reverts to "FreeAgent", a scaled down, but usable version. There are
a number of others out there. Forte is at:

Shop around and try a few out.

Does Google Groups work for you? I've only used it a couple of times, but
a lot of people seem to like it.

I've never tried it. Years ago I tried a few of the old ones, but have
stuck with the non-GUI ISP provided news services.

I am on Free Agent and have been for years. Simple, but excellent for
straightforward usage.

Help Raise Opposition to AOL and Yahoo carving up the internet with fees
to use the internet. ACTION ITEM PLUS MORE NEEDED
Submitted by Steering Commit... on Thu, 02/09/2006 - 1:07am.

Please take a moment to sign an important online petition from
MoveOn.org. The very existence of civic and political organizing online
is under attack by America Online, and we need to fight back quickly.

The petition's at:
http://civic.moveon.org/AOLemail/

AOL just announced plans to charge groups with large membership lists
every time they send an email. Online political groups, issue groups,
charities, and other non-profits who have large memberships will not be
able to send e-mails to their members.

AOL basically wants to blackmail organizations with large email lists. The
only way for groups to be sure members receive their emails would be to
pay what the New York Times calls the "electronic equivalent of a postage
stamp" for each email address every time an email is sent -- thousands of
dollars per email message.

If they don't pay, your emails could go into a black hole -- or be
"stripped of images and Web links." If AOL succeeds, other companies will
follow -- so we need to fight back today.

The petition to AOL is located at:
http://civic.moveon.org/AOLemail/

Thanks!

PS Im am in the process of moving the e-lists I am list mommy for to
Cool list.

Good. It will cut back on spam I imagine. Some of these non-profits are
every bit as annoying as the viagra pushers. THANK YOU AOL!!
