John, the past several days have been an impressive production from
someone who didn't want to post here any more! <g>

As you might imagine, there's quite a bit in your first three essays
that I disagree with, but I won't belabor that.

Your "Life And Times of Merlin" is an interesting take on the
"traditional" story/stories.

One quick question - why did you choose to leave out the whole
Uther/Cornwall/Igrayne involvement with Merlin?

The answer to that is, it never happened, only in other poeples
stories, and is probably a tradition of 'Courtly Love', probably
inserted in medieval times.

There was a book that i obtained from the library, by chance, called
'The Supernatural: how to contact the dead' or something like that, a
spiritual book about ghosts, it listed many of them, and also listed
Arthur, Perceval and Merlin, and upon seeing this I read it, it was
actualy about a Medium that had visited the supposed places, (such as
tintagel).

Let's just say, I found out ghosts existed, and of course it wasn't a
make believe ghost book, it was about real ones.

Most of the information That I obtained where from that book, it's
like this bert, a medium can see what happened in the lives of these
people, and what I write in 'The life and times of Merlin' is what was
seen by those three ghosts, (believe that or not), I did my best to
write down 'what came to mind' so to speak.

I know people don't belive in ghosts.

I don't think Arthur ever had a farther, there was not much in the way
of courtly love, maybe the love affair between lancelot and guinivere,
(something I never saw) so it never was, there was love, but most of
what you read in stories is made up.

The description of Arthur Merlin and the Knights where accurate, (it's
what they looked like).

The lives they lead where mostly of bloodshed and war, love may have
came with the peice inbetween, the begining was all war.

His end was caused by Mordred, who turned the nights against each
other and Arthur against guinivere, and that's it.

It's amazing how no one has ever described acturetly what happened,
what they looked like (including the bloody battles) and been honest.

I have just read Geoffrey of Monmouths history of the kings of breton,
most of what he wrote is fiction, but probably the greatest work of
writing ever.

I know for sure, and I am 100% certain King Arthur did live in the
5-6th century, the dark ages, he, Merlin and all I wrote was not
fiction.

Like I have stated, a lot has been added to what I wrote, by many
writers, love affairs, characters, romance.

Like so many who don't belive in ghosts, the same many will not
believe what I write, that's how I wrote the description so accuratly.

I am satidfied in my own knollege of Arthurs existence in history, and
what happened, and how it happened. Even if others choose not to
belive anything I wrote, that's there choice.

Theres probably not many poeple can do that,

Take care,

John,

I agree with you. Arthur did indeed live. Merlin did recount the
stories of Arthur's heroic life. Arthur's exploits have become legends,
his friends have become legends and his family, associates and knights
have become legends. They are a part of the psyche of Western European
Culture.
