Hello, to all at ALKA, it has been many years since I posted anything
here, and I hope not to, but I had to read, just to see how the group
is getting on, a shame to see it in such disarray.

So, here is a some small quotes from an upcoming publication of mine,
ether on the internet or in book form. I wish you all the best for
the future, I doubt whether I shall post again.

Ah, mount Ambrius, the giants ring, of course it is Stonehenge, anyone
who Ambrosius Merlin is?, only joking, I still think some people on
ALKA can be scathing towards people who are amateurs, but then I don’t
consider ALKA to be the place of Academics ether. Whatever the future
holds for ALKA I wish all the old posters like Tom, Bert, Cherith and
others all luck.

The mother of Merlin

“”upon a field walked a young, elegant woman, she wore a silken robe
of purple, her hair was so long and of smoothest black, as she walked
slowly she held in her arms a clay jug. The young woman knelt beside
a flowing stream of water, a warm breeze seemed to whisper through the
trees as leaves gently fell, the stream sparkled in the brightness of
the son above””

Merlin’s Prophecy-

“”Merlin told him the prophecy he had foreseen as a boy, he told
Vortigern the reason why the fortress forever fell down, the dragons
fight among each other, and as long as they did so his fortress will
never stand, he then foretold his prophecy, “Behold the dragon in the
sky, the coming of the king to rule all others, it shall rain a shower
of blood, rivers of the land run in red, there within the great forest
the mighty boar shall cut down all other trees, and he shall be king.“
Vortigern feared what Merlin said, Merlin saw Hengist stood beside
Vortigern, Hengist looked strangely at Merlin upon hearing his
prophecy, he spoke to Vortigern who then ordered the soldiers to take
him, Merlin was imprisoned for what he had said””

I hope you enjoyed that small present, all the best for the future.

Wow! Good to see your post, John! You're right, it has been a long
time since you've dropped in. According to the Google Archives, it's
been 7 years. Interest in ALKA has of late certainly faded, but you
never know...folks may take it up again.

Well, believe it or not, I hope you do post again. Your writing clips
look very promising and I hope you are successful with them in what ever
venue you choose.

Oh, come on now, John. You've got to admit that you had a penchant for
stirring things up on occasion. <g> ALKA has typically been peopled by
far more amateurs than academics over the years. The few true academics
steeped in Arthurian research who do (or at least used to) read here
are/were well worth listening to and learning from. One just has to
remember that unmoderated Newsgroups tend to facilitate flame wars, no
matter what the reason. The trick is always to simply avoid
unreasonable arguments (either creating or participating in them) and
enjoy the value of the more reasoned discussions. A little civility
goes a long way.

Whatever the future

Your thought is much appreciated and I wish the same for you.

Further, if it's not too much to ask, what with copyright issues and
etc., it would be nice to read some larger excerpts from your recent
works! If nothing else, at least post here what medium you eventually
choose in which to publish the completed writings. I'd love to read them!

Best regards,
Bert

Im'e not sure about posting anymore, let's say it covers Merlin's
beginning to end, with Arthur, the knights, all have good descriptions
according to the times they lives, in fact I personaly think they are
better than any other books.

It also covers legend myth and history, from the roman conquest, sort
of a prelude to Arthurs rise, to some information on the basis of
witches and sun worshipers, you get the idea.

Basicly the first part of the book is going to be a concept, or a
modern retelling, verry descriptive with the characters and knights,
something lacking in the legend, the second part will go into myth,
history and what is known of those times, including archeology.

It is based on the dark ages and life was probably like, and to some
extend the horrors of war.

It's taken a year on and off to peice it together, althoug my book is
primarily about Merlin.

I would rarther not give anything away, sorry. it is all to easy for
poeple to steal other peoples work these days. And considering the
effort that's going into it I do right.

No problem, John, what ever feels right to you.
