Just saw a commercial for this last night. The tag line is "before romeo and
juliet, there was..."

I wonder if anyone will actually go to see this thing.

I just wonder if the general public would be as interested as a hardcore
arthurian fan like me.

It's a romance. It will draw plenty of people in.

I'll admit I was a little excited when I heard about this as well, given
the general lack of decent movies over the past couple years.

I was just fascinated by the fact that it's an Arthurian love story that, to
my knowledge, contains no mention of Arthur, Lancelot et al. I wondered if
Tristram's story would ever be told.

Franklin,

My apologies for taking so long in replying to our original comments.
In regards to that, you're right, I believe. Not too many people will
be interested in this film, other than, as you put it, "Hard core
Arthurian fans." This latest will probably go to video/dvd release
fairly rapidly.

The Tristan story has, however, been done a number of times on film.
Other than tapings of opera performances of Wagner's version of things,
a couple of examples are "Lovespell", which starred Richard Burton as
King Mark, and "Fire and Sword", which included Peter Firth as Dinas.

I was not aware of that. Thank you for the info!
