new Arthurian show
(too old to reply)

Well, the group seems to be a bit of a graveyard lately, but I figured
it couldn't hurt to post it here...

...my name's phillip low: I'm a spoken-word artist from Minneapolis.
I'm currently touring a new one-man show called "The Rise of General
Arthur": essentially, it's harmonizing passages from Geoffrey of
Monmouth, Thomas Malory, and Wolfram von Eschenbach, and resetting the
action against the background of the first Gulf War. Partly it's an
examination of the language of martial heroism, partially an attempt
to see what resonances emerge.

It's touring this summer to Washington DC, Kansas City Missouri,
Minneapolis, Boulder, Indianapolis...and Melbourne, Australia. Yeah,
that last one seems weird to me, too.

In any case, I fondly recall being a frequent lurker on this group
several years back, and thought I'd pass it along to the body of
people who might actually, y'know, get half of the references I'm
working with. Full information is available on my website at

Hello Phillip,

Glad you chose to post to an old and fading haunt! Sorry I missed your
previous postings, but I've just perused your web site and wish that I
could make it to one of your shows - looks like a hoot.

In lieu of that, is there any chance of you either offering a video clip
on your site or perhaps a sample of the script here?

If you and your gang ever perform anywhere near the Rochester, NY
region, my wife and I will certainly attend.

Best regards,
Bert

Video clips may happen eventually: I'm having the show recorded in
August. I'd be delighted to post a few passages here, but alas, I'd
like to hang onto my first-publication rights and posting on the web
counts as such.

I've posted the last of the tour dates on the site, if anybody should
stumble across this post while I'm still on the road. Opening in
Kansas City on Tuesday: if anyone knows how to find Arthurian fans in
the area, I'd be much obliged.
